The Port of Long Beach’s executive director on Friday called for a harbor budget cut by 5 percent in 2013 over the current fiscal year.

J. Christopher Lytle spoke during a special meeting of the Harbor Commission, outlining his goals for the year in his first statement since taking the helm in January.

During a brief overview, Lytle urged the port to cut expenses and increase its net income by 5 percent.
