The [Southern California] region’s pollution control agency on Friday signed off on a contract that will bring 47 air filtration devices to Wilmington-area schools. … at an amount not to exceed $5.4 million

The cost to install and maintain the devices comes from a settlement agreement over the TraPac terminal expansion project at the Port of Los Angeles. Opponents of the expansion had argued that a fund was needed to pay for projects that could help protect students and nearby residents from port pollution.
