The Port of Vancouver was named 2010 port of the year by the Washington Public Ports Association at its annual meeting in Tacoma. The association recognized its role in a number of recent projects, including a unit train loop completed in June and a $178 million deepening of the Columbia River channel.
“They are a shining example of how to spur job creation,” said Eric Johnson, the port association’s executive director, in a statement. Johnson chose the winning port from a pool of nominees.
