The Journal of Commerce has North Carolina ports as 16th for imports and 18th among exports. The report shows export volumes at NC’s ports increased 47.2 percent over the fiscal year (2008-2009), while import volumes increased 26.3 percent over the same period.
Independent Container Line, Ltd. And Maersk began service at the Port of Wilmington in March 2009. ICL provides weekly service between Wilmington and north Europe and the United Kingdom. The Maersk Line connects weekly to Puerto Cortes, Honduras and Santo Tomas.
