Containerized exports at the Port of Seattle increased 51.4 percent in October over the same month last year, pushing the Pacific Northwest port to its busiest month since 2007. Seattle’s cargo surge is due in part to a service added this year by Maersk Line and CMA CGM. However, the international loaded container traffic also grew 11.2 percent on a month-to-month basis. With international container traffic up 18.2 percent in August, 15.6 percent in September and 22 percent in October over the same months in 2008, the port’s momentum appears to be growing.
