Angry dockers in Santos that are disrupting operations at four Santos container terminals have stepped up their rhetoric ahead of a decision from a regional labor court by claiming foreign workers are handling cargo.
A statement from a lawyer representing Sindestiva said federal police have been given evidence that foreigners have been caught lashing and unlashing containers to keep operations moving during some of the recent stoppages due to strike action. Sindestiva claims that 14 foreign crew from Montenegro, Samoa, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Ukraine were found working on the MSC Maureen, MOL Paramount and Nordic Strasund.
“We will unmask the lies by the terminals and their representation, the employers’ association,” Rodnei Oliveira da Silva, the president of Sindestiva, told a local Santos newspaper.
