U.S. exports of steel during the first two months of 2010 were up 43.5 percent from a year earlier despite a month-to-month dip in February partly due to bad weather, the American Institute for International Steel reported. The president of the institute said the increase was driven by global economic recovery. U.S. exports to Canada and Mexico jumped 57.3 percent from depressed year-earlier levels. Exports to Asia rose 28.1 percent despite a 36.8 percent drop in shipments to China.
