The Port of Los Angeles processed 768,804 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in May, a dip of 3.4 percent compared to last May’s record of 796,216 TEUs.
May 2018 imports dropped 1.8 percent to 405,587 TEUs compared to the previous year. Exports slipped less than 1 percent to 168,681 TEUs while empty containers fell 9 percent to 194,537 TEUs. Combined, May overall volumes were 768,804 TEUs.
Five months into 2018, overall volumes have decreased 4.4 percent compared to 2017, when the Port set an all-time cargo record.
