From the Ventura County Star:

The Port of Hueneme on Friday afternoon celebrated the groundbreaking of its Intermodal Infrastructure Project that will create hundreds of local jobs and generate $28 million in new business revenue.

The first phase of the project, which will resurface 13 acres at the port and improve the infrastructure that supports two of its cranes, is scheduled to be completed sometime in the next month, while the overall project should be finished by March 2019.

The project is expected to create more than 500 jobs, which will include cargo-handling positions, insurance specialists, logistical supply claim jobs and other maritime-related careers, according to port CEO Kristin Decas.

Later stages of the project will include modernizing the wharf and deepening the harbor, which will allow larger ships to enter. The combined investment will cost $28.7 million, of which $14 million will come from federal funding.
