SeaLand, the hallowed container shipping brand relaunched by Maersk Line in January, sees an opportunity to gain market share in the Latin American lanes resulting from two mergers — between two German container lines and two Chilean carriers.
“Customers don’t want to put all their eggs in one basket, so if they are shipping on CSAV and Hapag-Lloyd, and they combine, they don’t want all their containers on one carrier,” said Craig Mygatt, CEO of SeaLand. “They want to diversify, so it’s a great opportunity.”
