Container shipping has arrived on Vancouver Island. The MV Westwood Pacific was loaded and left Nanaimo carrying containers filled with lumber, pulp and water bound for Asian ports Tuesday.
Though just a trial run, the port and its partners hope it will lead to the realization of a goal long held: To add container shipping to the list of services offered from the largest port on Vancouver Island.
It’s hoped this trial call, with express service to Japan, Korea and feeder service to other Asian ports.
