Grain and soybean prices will remain high at least through the summer, Bunge’s chief executive said Thursday.
The South American corn and soybean crop, while smaller than expected, will be large enough to meet that region’s domestic and export demand, said Alberto Weisser, CEO of Bunge, one of the world’s largest grain traders and processors. Still, global supplies are tight and prices must remain high to encourage farmers to plant more acres until it’s clear that stockpiles are being replenished, he said.
