Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol broke ground Friday on a truck weight scales facility on eastbound Interstate 80 in Cordelia.
The new $100 million facility’s greater capacity and better technology will replace the one built in 1958.
The current facility served as an inspection point for trucks leaving the Port of Oakland, where 99 percent of containerized goods begin moving through Northern California.
