A group opposed to coal exporting has delivered more than 40,000 signatures to the Commissioner of Public Lands aimed at getting him to stop proposed terminals at Grays Harbor, Longview and Cherry Point.

The group expressed their concerns over health, economic and environmental impacts both for the communities near the proposed coal export terminals and for the rail-corridor communities in the state.

Commissioner Goldmark released a statement saying “any new terminal to export coal will go through a rigorous environmental review process by the appropriate permitting agencies.”
