In an article called “Annual report details Port of Longview’s legal bills for labor dispute,” the Daily News reports the following:

The Port of Longview spent nearly a half million dollars in legal fees related to the labor dispute at the EGT grain terminal in 2011, while at the same time setting another record revenue year.

The port hired Seattle firm Graham & Dunn to do most of the legal work in the EGT case, which included filing dozens of briefs and arguing in federal court in Tacoma.

In January 2011, EGT filed a federal lawsuit against the port, claiming its lease agreement with the port didn’t require the company to hire members of ILWU to work inside the terminal. The port and union have a working agreement requiring longshore labor on port-owned land.
