In a letter (download pdf here) to ILWU Coast Committeeman Leal Sundet, IBT leader Tony Andrews writes the following:
Brother Leal:
On behalf of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Joint Council No. 37 and our 24,000 members in nine locals, I assure you that the International Longshore and Warehouse Union has the full support of our membership with regard to ILWU Local 21’s fight to maintain longshore jurisdiction at the EGT facility in Longview, Washington.
As is true of the rest of the labor movement, we are fully aware of the facts of the fight for good jobs and longshore jurisdiction at the Port of Longview. We stand ready to offer your union our full and robust support in all manners necessary as allowed by law. Please keep me updated as your fight continues. We will work with you to secure victory and to see the members of ILWU Local 21 working under a good collective bargaining agreement with EGT.
