An SSA Marine vice president is questioning the motives of RE Sources for Sustainable Communities, responding to the environmental group’s recent announcement that it intends to file suit against SSA based on Clean Water Act violations related to the unauthorized road-clearing and tree removal at the company’s Cherry Point property.
In a press release, Bob Watters of SSA says the company has been working with Whatcom County and state agencies to fix the damage done this summer when a contractor cleared pathways for geotechnical drilling equipment without obtaining proper permits. The company contends that RE Sources’ real goal is to stop any new development at Cherry Point.
