The following letter of solidarity comes from Dave Nolan, Executive Vice President of MEBA District No. 1-PCD.
The Marine Engineers Beneficial Association (MEBA AFL-CIO) stands in solidarity with the brothers and sisters of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) in their struggle to exercise their rights in the Port of Longview, Washington. Approximately 135 longshore workers and their supporters have been arrested this summer in the struggle to stop a multinational corporation from disregarding its commitment to hire union longshore workers.
MEBA calls on all labor unions to support and respect the ILWU’s picket line and their right to peacefully assemble under the United States Constitution.
In unity and friendship,
Dave A. Nolan
Executive Vice President
