Excerpts from the Daily Labor Report:
The union said the agreement was reached Sept. 14 after only two days of negotiations, and covers workers at six grain export terminals in Seattle, Tacoma, and Vancouver, Wash., and Portland, Ore., owned and/or operated by Cargill Inc., Columbia Grain Inc., Louis Dreyfus Commodities, CLD Pacific Grain, and United Grain Corp.
In an Oct. 19 statement, ILWU President Robert McEllrath said the agreement “represents the continuation of years of collaboration” between the union and the employers, which will ensure “the stability of the United States grain export industry and the efficient flow of grain at a time when there is a lot of instability in the world.”
