The Maritime Administration and Customs and Border Protection are offering 48-hour expedited processing of Jones Act waivers for parties that purchase oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

The Department of Energy, in its first announcement of the sale of 30 million barrels of SPR stock, included a blanket Jones Act waiver, but that provision was quickly removed after protests from Jones Act supporters.

Marad and Customs still allow the application of waivers through regular channels.
