Millennium Bulk Terminals and a subsidiary of Alcoa Corp. are seeking to improve a dock at the former Reynolds Metals Co. site to boost alumina imports, the companies announced Wednesday.
Northwest Alloys, a wholly owned Alcoa subsidiary that owns the terminal and dock, and Millennium filed permits with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tuesday to conduct maintenance dredging and safety repair work at the dock.
The dock, currently used to unload alumina from small ships, will not be configured to export coal, the companies said. Millennium plans to file separate permits within a year to build a new coal export dock and berth.
