A strike on Brisbane’s Patrick wharves has been averted, with the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) to meet with the company instead.
A union spokesman said as a result of Patrick agreeing to meet on pay negotiations this week, a strike notice for Friday was being revoked.
“The action in Brisbane is being revoked as a consequence of Patrick representatives agreeing to meet with the MUA,” he said. “The meetings will occur in Sydney on Thursday and Friday of this week.”
Patrick director Paul Garaty said the company was committed to good faith negotiations.
