By 2013, dockworkers will be able to gather inside a new, $15 million dispatch hall on 9 acres of property owned by the Port of Los Angeles, just a half-mile away from the union’s current location.

Plans call for a two-story, 32,565-square-foot building that would provide ample space for a hiring hall, meetings and administrative offices at the intersection of Anaheim and Alameda streets.

The project, funded by the Pacific Maritime Association, also calls for adding a large, fenced parking lot with more than 800 spaces, a considerable upgrade from the 49 available parking spaces at the current dispatch hall.
