The Port of Long Beach and the Federal Maritime Commission announced late last week that … Long Beach Harbor Commissioner Mario Cordero was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the newest member of the FMC, an agency responsible for regulating the nation’s international ocean transportation, according to information provided by the FMC.

Cordero is currently serving his second term on the Board of Harbor Commissioners. During his first term, he served as both vice president and president of the board and is credited as having spearheaded the port’s Green Port Policy and Clean Air Action Plan, according to the FMC and the White House.
