The Argentine government slapped anti-dumping measures on Chinese manufactured goods last year to protect local industry, and a leading Chinese commerce official subsequently threatened retaliatory moves.

Argentine soy processors are operating at a loss this year because China has not resumed soyoil purchases despite resolving a trade row with the South American country, an industry group said on Thursday.

India has replaced China as Argentina’s top soyoil buyer, but a grain industry representative said exporters feared that market could be at risk as the Argentine government increases import restrictions, affecting Indian-made products.
