A consortium led by APM Terminals, the terminal-operating division of A.P. Moller-Maersk, was awarded the contract to modernize and operate the multipurpose Muelle Norte terminal at Peru’s Port of Callao.
The consortium, which includes Dutch firm Callao Port Holding and Peru’s Central Portuaria, was awarded the concession after the competition went to a third tiebreak, based on the lowest tariff offered for special port services.
APM is not the first port operator to enter the Peruvian port. DP World opened a new container terminal in Callao in the second quarter of 2010.From the Journal of Commerce
