Bahraini port workers have launched a two-week protest after failing in a campaign for pay rises and better allowances.
Staff at APM Terminals, the company that manages the Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP), started wearing red ribbons yesterday in protest.
“We will continue this protest by wearing red ribbons till February 20, when we will hold a gathering at the company gates if our demands are not met,” said company trade union chairman Salman Al Sayed. “We have been demanding a fair transport allowance, a proper pay structure and family health insurance, but we have had no success so far.”
