Changes to a deal regarding North Spit property should shrink risk to the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay and improve the site’s appeal to potential users, port CEO Jeff Bishop told port commissioners Thursday.

Some attendees at the meeting expressed dissatisfaction with the agreement. They questioned the price of the property — unchanged since 2006 — and the uncertainty of obtaining environmental permits for proposed projects.

Mostly, they challenged the wisdom of the port’s commitment to the liquefied natural gas plant Jordan Cove Energy Project wants to build on part of the property.
