The Port of San Diego will be celebrating the grand opening of its new $28 million cruise ship terminal by hosting an open house at its new pavilion and pier.

Cruise ships berthing at the pavilion will use shore-side electrical power which will result in less pollution from a ship’s diesel-burning engines while at berth, according to the port.

Celebrations for the new pavilion will commence on December 18, 2010.
