In terms of an announcement of phase two of Fairview Terminal, Prince Rupert Port Authority president and CEO Don Krusel said that the development of that project could look different than what people in the community expect.
“Looking at the clouds ahead with the U.S. economy still facing challenges, that investment is a big bone to swallow…We may be looking at a phase II(A) and phase II(B) or something similar to that,” he said.
“The disadvantage to that is that we are in the cross-hairs of our competitors. Five years ago Long Beach didn’t know where the Port of Prince Rupert was, but I can tell you now that their strategic plan includes how to handle places like Prince Rupert.”
