The final pieces are coming together to restore rail service to the South Coast.  Governor Kulongoski visited Reedsport recently with a $7.8 million check in hand. The money comes from the ConnectOregon program, which uses lottery bonds to invest in non-highway transportation.

The Port of Coos Bay is getting that $7.8 million check to get the railroad in working order again. Rail service on the South Coast has been at a halt since 2007. Port officials say they expect the railroad to be up and running next spring.
