Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani won’t be getting a 4 percent pay hike because he turned it down. The Port of Seattle Commission was supposed to consider raising Yoshitani’s pay at its Tuesday meeting but the pay hike proposal was pulled from the commissioners’ agenda before the meeting. Yoshitani makes $334,000 a year.

The raise was opposed by a group calling itself Puget Sound Sage, which pointed to cuts and layoffs at the port in the last year as reasons for its opposition to the pay hike. Port officials say the Port of Seattle is one of the fastest growing on the West Coast, attributing the growth to Yoshitani. Commissioners gave Yoshitani a glowing performance review for the last year.
