The reportedly illegal reclamation at Isla Puting Bato.
The City Council of Manila led by Vice Mayor Isko Moreno was reportedly fuming mad over the alleged “illegal” reclamation of ICTSI, which denied conducting the activity despite photos plastered in various newspapers showing an aerial view of the once breakwater situated alongside Isla Puting Bato which is now bigger by 12 hectares.
According to Moreno, they inspected the ongoing reclamation and found out that it had no permits, nor an ordinance allowing them to do the reclamation in the area. During the investigation, it was also discovered that roads, pavements, and cemented fences were being built in the 12-hectare area with no proper permits.
Moreno said he will ask the city government to issue a “cease and desistorder” to stop ICTSI and Hanjin from continuing with the reclamation project.
