Kalama business owner Troy Stariha was selected Wednesday to join the Port of Kalama Board of Commissioners. Stariha, 39, is filling the seat formerly held by Fred Swanstrom, who died in May. Stariha will serve until November 2011, when Swanstrom’s term would have ended.

As a small business owner, Stariha said, he’s seen the benefits that port businesses can have for the rest of Kalama – whether it’s more people buying auto parts or buying a sandwich during lunch. “I want to be a part of that positive influence,” he said.
