Port of Tacoma Commissioners heard cautious optimism and continued belt tightening during the budget and cargo update at their May 6 meeting.

The port’s $102.1 million 2010 program budget represents the first year of its scheduled five-year plan – a package that totals nearly $197 million in projects. The planned program budget includes funds to construct a 600-foot wharf extension, to plan for significant amounts of the environmental mitigation efforts on the Blair-Hylebos Peninsula and repair terminal seven.
