Although the Port of Los Angeles is expected to slowly recover this year from the national economic recession, the Board of Harbor Commissioners on Thursday approved a $909.5 million budget that reflects a 19.7 percent spending decrease over last year.
More than $17 million will be set aside for environmental programs at the port, including $7.7 million earmarked for the Clean Trucks Program, which aims to reduce diesel truck emissions by 80 percent by 2012. … and $77 million will go toward advancing the TraPac and China shipping terminal expansion projects, with new wharfs expected to open at both facilities by July 2011.
