The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach strengthened their Clean Air Action Plan Wednesday, setting new goals for curbing pollution over the next decade. … The updated version includes long-term goals, including an 85 percent reduction in cancer risk from port-related diesel pollution by 2020, and a series of emissions reductions by 2014 and 2023.

The ports have scheduled public meetings to gather comments on the new Clean Air Action Plan on April 21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Los Angeles Harbor and April 27 at Long Beach City Council Chambers, both beginning at 7 p.m.
