[From a company news release] Orion Marine Group, Inc., a Texas-based heavy civil marine contractor, has announced that it is establishing a base to serve the Pacific Northwest and West Coast through the acquisition of certain marine equipment items for $7 million from a private company exiting the marine construction business. Equipment items include derrick barges, cranes, hammers and ancillary equipment. Additionally, the Company has hired several key personnel with West Coast heavy civil marine construction experience to help establish a new greenfield base to serve the West Coast, including Canada and Alaska. A new yard and office will be established on a water front site leased from the Port of Tacoma. Orion’s CEO said, “We look forward to leveraging the experience of the key personnel we have hired with the strength of Orion Marine Group to establish a strong foothold in the West Coast market.”
