Union Pacific Railroad announced Monday that effective November 19th, a new high-clearance route through the Sierra was open and in service. While the line previously had one track open for double-stack containers (export containers stacked two-high on deep-well flatcars) this second track adds flexibility and capacity to move containers from the Port of Oakland to the East.
