Keyera Energy Co. may soon become the first tenant at the Port of Vancouver’s former Alcoa-Evergreen aluminum site, now called Terminal 5. The company has signed a letter of intent with the port to move its propane tank farm … to 3 acres of industrial land near the port’s proposed Terminal 5 rail loop. While the majority of the former Alcoa site is reserved for new marine terminal operations, a portion, called Terminal 5 North, has been zoned for industrial development. Representatives from the port and Keyera recently presented the proposed move to the neighborhood association, which now supports the move. Lee McCallister, chairman of the association, said, “I would prefer that it was moved out away from the population (to the port) in case we have these kooks trying to blow things up.”
