The International Longshoremen’s Union posted this announcement today:
ILA and USMX Will Continue Negotiations With Union and Management’s 20-member Committee Meeting on August 22-24, 2012
The International Longshoremen’s Association, AFL-CIO will resume negotiations with United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 when the union’s negotiating sub-committee, called the 20-member committee, meets with the employer’s smaller negotiating committee in Delray Beach, Florida. The ILA and USMX have scheduled three days of meetings with this committee on August 22-24 and will likely call full Wage Scale meetings in early September.
The most recent ILA-USMX Wage Scale meetings held in mid-July produced breakthrough agreements for the ILA on automation and chassis work.
ILA ports from Maine to Texas are also currently engaged in local bargaining. In New York, the NYSA and ILA have scheduled local negotiations for August 28 and 29, 2012 in Newark, NJ.
