Breakbulk volumes, auto exports and intermodal lifts continue to outpace last year’s numbers at the Port of Tacoma in Washington.
Port officials said the demand for agricultural and industrial equipment overseas continues to fuel breakbulk’s 95.5 percent year-to-date gain at 136,774 tons of cargo. Intermodal lifts rose to 182,523, a gain of 16 percent. Autos handled at Tacoma also increased, reaching 81,039 units by the end of June, which represented a 21 percent gain compared with the same period in 2011.
